Thursday night marked the winter finale of “How to Get Away with Murder,” and we have a pretty good feeling that this is going to be an episode that causes people to have their jaws hanging on the ground for a rather-long stretch of time.
The ABC show is not going to be returning until Thursday, January 19, and from there, you will get a chance to see the remainder of this story unravel. Structurally, expect to see something similar with Viola Davis and company to what you’ve seen for almost the entirety of the series to date: There will be several episodes airing in succession, and then a finale in late November / early March that will close things off until presumably the fall when the show returns again.
We should caution you that there is no confirmation as of yet that the series will be returning for a fourth season, but we have a hard time believing anything other than this will take place. Davis is still a perennial awards-show contender, the writing is exceptional, and we do think that the series has a little bit of gas left in the tank. Sooner or later, some of these students will graduate, and we have some advice for them as a result of that: Run as far away from this place as humanly possible. If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it is that this place is a complete mess.
We’ll have a promo for this episode once one is available. Update: The promo is below, and #TGIT is back along with a confirmed return date of January 19. Just to remind you, we still hate that “Notorious” wasn’t given the signature branding — it almost to us felt like ABC was treating the show as less-than.
