Law and Order SVU: Episode 18.03 Preview – What’s next in “Imposter”

On tonight’s “Law & Order: SVU” episode, we had what certainly was a rather eventful episode in between the brief appearance from Vice-President Joe Biden and then also a case that was very much inspired by “Making a Murderer.” It was powerful at times, and did enough in order to help convince us that we weren’t just seeing a repeat of the Netflix documentary series.

So where is the story going from here? Next week, we are looking at an episode entitled “Imposter,” which is hopefully going to feature Wallace Langham and “Necessary Roughness” alum Callie Thorne in guest roles. Take a look at the synopsis below for some further information regarding the terrible case that will unfold:

“A man (Langham) tears a family apart when he uses a prominent fake identity to lure a vulnerable wife and mother into his bed. Barba (Raul Esparza) argues that the evidence amounts to rape, but he’s faced with a powerful defense attorney (Thorne) and a skeptical judge (guest star Vincent Curatola) in court.”

To us, Barba’s stance feels very strong: This is a man who intentionally did what he could in order to ensure that he could get a woman to be with him. He sexually took advantage of her, and were it not for the pretense she would not have been in that position. Unfortunately, the rest of the synopsis brings to light the troubles that can come with this sort of case, especially when you are dealing with defense attorneys and also judges who have strong opinions of their own.
